01 / Patient registration

Patient registration that carries through to the next visit

One patient record, from reception to the next consultation.

MedPrax OPD is clinic and outpatient management software for Indian doctors. Its core workflow connects registration, the patient queue, the consultation, the prescription and payment collection. Reception and the doctor can work with the same clinic records instead of maintaining separate lists for each part of a visit. The software runs in a browser on a computer, tablet or phone, so a clinic can explore it using the devices it already has.

Registration starts with a patient's name and mobile number. Each patient receives a clinic ID, and the clinic can print a QR patient card. When that patient returns, staff can search using the clinic ID or phone number and bring up the existing history. Existing IDs remain searchable when patient lists are imported. This is useful when a practice is moving from a spreadsheet or another application and wants returning patients to remain recognisable to reception.

02 / Queues & staff

A shared queue for reception and doctors

Tokens are numbered automatically, and online bookings join the same queue used for clinic visits. Reception can register patients and manage the waiting list while the doctor carries out consultations. Separate staff invitations let the front desk use its own access rather than sharing the doctor's login. The division of work follows a familiar outpatient routine: reception handles arrival and payment, while the clinician documents the visit.

For clinics with several doctors, the Clinic plan supports up to five doctors with individual queues, fees, letterheads and signatures. A waiting-room token display can run on a television or spare tablet. It shows each doctor's current token rather than patient names. A clinic evaluating the system can check both the receptionist's queue view and the waiting-room display to see how patients will be called during a busy session.

03 / Prescriptions

Prescriptions with reusable medicines and instructions

Print on your letterhead or share through your own WhatsApp.

The prescription workflow includes an Indian brand and generic medicine list, alongside the clinic's own medicines and saved usual doses. Templates and the option to repeat the previous prescription support follow-up appointments where the doctor wants to review an existing treatment and edit it. Alerts cover recorded allergies and duplicate paracetamol or NSAID entries. These tools support the clinician's review; the doctor remains responsible for selecting medicines and checking the final prescription.

The patient's copy can include instructions in English and fourteen Indian languages. Picture-based dosage timings sit alongside words for instructions such as morning, night and after food. Clinics can print prescriptions on their own letterhead or share them through their own WhatsApp. The printing options include A4 and A5 formats with adjustable margins. This gives a practice several ways to deliver the same consultation record according to the patient's needs and the clinic's printing setup.

04 / Billing

Billing, receipts and daily collections

MedPrax OPD records clinic payments by cash, UPI or card. For UPI collections, it can show a QR code for the exact amount using the clinic's own UPI ID. A receipt can be printed or shared on WhatsApp, and the day's collections are totalled in the application. Reception can therefore complete the payment stage in the same system used to register the patient and manage the queue.

When assessing the billing workflow, try a complete sample visit: register a patient, prepare a prescription, collect the consultation fee and produce the receipt. For a practice with multiple doctors, review the doctor-specific fees and revenue view as well. Following a realistic visit is a practical way to check whether the software's receipt format, payment entry and daily totals match how your clinic actually operates.

05 / Booking & records

Online booking and the wider consultation record

Pro and Clinic plans include a personal booking page. The clinic can share its link through WhatsApp, Instagram or Google Business Profile, or use a QR code and website button. Patients choose a doctor, and bookings appear in the clinic dashboard. Patients can also ask for a video consultation. The clinic can send its own Meet or Zoom link through WhatsApp, and the resulting prescription can be marked as a teleconsultation.

The patient record also supports visit-related certificates and documents, including medical leave, fitness, referral and consent forms with the clinician's signature. Diagnosis entry includes ICD-10 suggestions. Vitals such as blood pressure, blood sugar and weight can be viewed across visits. Paediatric workflows include an IAP vaccination schedule, due dates, reminders and growth information. These are useful areas to explore with your own specialty's normal consultation sequence before choosing a plan.

06 / Offline use

Using the system when a connection drops

Continue on a signed-in device, then sync when connected.

On a device that has already been signed in, MedPrax OPD supports offline work when the internet connection drops. New patients, visits and prescriptions can be saved locally and synchronised when connectivity returns. Initial access and features that depend on an online service still need connectivity. When testing the application, use a signed-in device and review the offline workflow with sample records before relying on it during a clinic session.

The browser-based application can also be installed from the browser menu on supported devices, including Android and Windows. Staff do not need a separate desktop installation to begin using the web application. For a clinic deciding where to place devices, a practical starting point is one reception screen and one consultation screen, then checking printing, queue visibility and WhatsApp sharing from the devices staff will actually use.

07 / Plans & getting started

Plans, patient data and getting started

The Starter plan covers one doctor and up to 150 visits per month, including the core queue, prescription and billing functions. Pro adds unlimited visits, online booking and reports. Clinic supports a practice with several doctors. Visit the product's pricing page for current charges, taxes and the full feature comparison before subscribing. Choosing a plan should depend on monthly visit volume, the number of clinicians and the booking or reporting functions the practice needs.

Patient lists can be brought in from Excel or another application, and the product supports exporting patients and visits to Excel. A useful evaluation includes importing a small sample, finding an existing patient and checking the exported result. For a wider institution requiring inpatient administration and hospital-wide departmental workflows, MedPrax HMS is another MedPrax offering to explore. MedPrax OPD focuses on the outpatient clinic journey described here. Open the product website to explore its features, review plans and create a clinic account.
